All I can think upon seeing these pieces is what sweet band names they would make. Kim Gordon has always had a penchants for that, no? I mean, it doesn’t get much more awesome than Noise Nomads and Pussy Galore. These pieces originally appeared in some sort of gallery exhibition curated by the Mulleavy sisters of Rodarte apparently. They can be yours too though! As long as you have $6000 to spare. Full size below the cut
Not a band, but a sound project, or possibly just an indie blogsphere meme in the making, Jesus Christ (the indie band)’s new song is currently making the rounds. It reminds me of that other blogsphere meme band, BMX, or am I the only one who remembers them? Or maybe The Teenagers. Just remember, with the premature jocking of blog bands we must collectively shrug them off by the time they have any official releases.
Music blog SketchyTown posted a little riddle as to which LA noise-punk band is disbanding in the very near future, let’s dissect these hints really quick
Had new album with awesome new cover art but not so awesome songs, see above
Played Fuck Yeah Fest, and will be playing Fun Fun Fun Fest coming up
“Raucously awesome live shows
I was hoping there would be a bit more mystery to this one, but a quick browsing of the FYE line-up and FunFunFun line-up reveals that the only band playing both would happen to be Mika Miko, ding ding ding. Their presence will be missed, and the “growing up and moving on” bullshit that’s cited in their break-up is so fucking trivial when we all know they’ll have new projects in a matter of weeks. Whatever, at least they’re not calling it an “indefinite hiatus.”
Mr. Owens finds his furniture being utilized once again, this time for the “Pal’s” restaurant by Joseph Dirand. As always with Rick Owens, there is a gloriously harsh juxtapose of the strict geometry of his furniture and more romantic interior of the restaurant. Must find, and then proceed to dine. Rest of the pics below the cut,
A career spanning book coupled with the confirmation that the man himself has “left the building” almost seem to mark the end of an era for the house of Margiela. While many detractors will say that the label has been a ghost of itself since being acquired by the Diesel group in 2002, but I’m still a fan. Oh well. Either way Margiela’s new book will be available in all Maison Martin Margiela boutiques this month.
